November Resolutions

November is here already, and it’s time for me to make some resolutions.  I’m going to attempt to tackle a pretty difficult goal this month, so I’m going to try not to overload myself.  Here goes.

Participate in NaNoWriMo

If you haven’t heard of NaNoWriMo, it’s pretty much a month-long challenge for authors to write like crazy.  The goal is to have 50,000 words or more by the end of the month.  If I do half of this, I’m going to be incredibly proud of myself.  This is pretty much my main goal this month, and man, is it going to be a hard one.  I just need to discipline myself to take at least half an hour every day and write.  Even if it’s all terrible, at least it’s something.

Make something delicious

I love to bake, and I’d love to try a new recipe and have some fun making something tasty in the kitchen this month.  Making things gluten free so that I can eat them can be an interesting challenge sometimes, as gluten free flours don’t always work the same way as wheat.  This month, it’s all about experimenting and having fun.

Set up my new computer

I’ve got parts for a whole new desktop computer coming my way, and I’m super excited to start building it and upgrading my system.  It’s been at least five years since I got a new motherboard and processor, so I should see a huge improvement in my computer’s performance.  With games like Skyrim and Dragon Age 2 that can make use of DirectX 11, I’ll also see a difference in the quality of graphics, which I can’t wait for.

Since NaNoWriMo is such a big challenge for me, that’s it for this month.  We’ll see how I do.

What about you?  What are your resolutions for this month, and what exciting things are coming your way in November?

  1. I was going to do NaNoWriMo this year too! But I sort of chickened out of it... I did it back in 2007 and 2008, and it was so hard! (But I got a decent story out of it, so that's okay, right?)

The best I've ever had was 27,000 words. You?

    1. Nice! I'm hoping I can make it somewhere close to the 50k mark, but we'll see what happens. This is actually my first year participating in NaNoWriMo. I've chickened out all the years before. Haha.

My current word count is 6,668. I'm hoping for another 15-16 hundred words today.

  3. I'm not a writer, I'm a horrible speller so this would be so painful for me :P I love to read though. I also have a young friend who's a budding writer and I think I'm going to pass on this link to her. Good luck with NaNoWiMo!!
